PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provide programming in a sports talk show format that will generate the highest ratings and yield the greatest revenue

PRINCIPALS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for conducting sports updates - Ability to work solo or in duo or ensemble - Show preparation and producing as necessary to facilitate program execution of updates - Read commercials, promos, news, and sports copy - Make public appearances - Have deep knowledge of and interest in sports and the issues of sports - Keen knowledge of Chicago sports scene and history - Ability to build and develop strong contracts in the Chicago Market - Web content provider - Other duties as assigned


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: B.A. in Journalism preferred with a concentration in broadcast journalism and significant work in history, English and political science - Five years experience in a major market as a Sports anchor - Extensive background in Sports information delivery with strong on-air communication skills and writing expertise.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Voice quality is critical - Sports Minded - Creative web knowledge - Reporting skills mandatory - Demonstrate an ability to think on your feet, ask probing questions, and deal with high-pressure situations with ease and grace - Develop story ideas as well as take direction - Ability to gather information quickly, conduct interviews and prepare stories for air - Personable delivery is required, along with excellent diction and pronunciation - Ability to work under pressure and remain calm in confusing and uncertain situations - Strong writing skills are essential - Must have strong critical thinking skills and the ability to ask tough and insightful questions - Fluency with basic computer word processing is required - Ability to operate a range of technical equipment, including audio control boards, analog and digital recording and playback machines is required - Web uploading knowledge - Sports knowledge - Familiarity with established news practices and ethical standards is essential l . . .
