Showtime Networks Inc., a subsidiary of CBS Corporation, is seeking an exceptional Video Streaming Manager to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve video streaming issues affecting users of its apps and web sites for SHOWTIME, its stand-alone OTT service and Showtime Anytime, the company’s TV Everywhere service.

The Manager, Video Internet Streaming, will investigate any difficulties reported to be negatively impacting users, and will work with engineers to help test and provide feedback for in-development applications and streaming technologies to ensure that they meet the high quality standards expected by Showtime’s subscribers. They will work with QA personnel, product managers and other support staff to lead investigation and resolution of problems.

This role requires expert technical understanding of the components of our web sites, apps and production processes to formulate theories about the sources of issues. You will need to be a self-starter, tenacious, and creative in using the tools at hand - or tools of your choosing - to pursue the underlying causes/possible resolutions for those issues.

Additionally, the Video Streaming Support Manager will;

  • Assist the video streaming engineering team in development and rollout of new streaming technologies, players and platforms, and test proof of concept streaming clients and pre-release video assets

  • Make recommendations for content management and workflow enhancements and optimizations based on testing

  • Be able to discover or investigate issues with video, audio, and closed captions

  • Assist the 24x7 operations team by ensuring that proper monitoring and process is in place to easily identify and escalate issues

  • Provide support to the VOD streaming QC team by building processes and test strategies

  • Work in conjunction with the product team on new platform launches

  • Create and maintain documentation used by support and operations staff

Reporting to the Director of Project Management, the Video Streaming Support Manager will resolve issues alongside engineering and operations, work on the latest streaming technology to ensure the best possible customer streaming experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with engineering in development and testing of new streaming technologies infrastructure enhancements, optimizations, and monitoring capabilities

  • Create and execute test plans and tracking spreadsheets for new development initiatives

  • Understand, monitor, and troubleshoot technical issues experienced by our customers, and involve other teams as necessary

  • Develop and maintain a knowledge base of information on issues including problem-solving techniques

  • Build out and manage tracking system of active issues, and ensure that key problems are investigated and resolved in a timely fashion

  • Build out support escalation procedures and processes, including documentation and diagrams


  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or other Internet centric curriculum

  • Prior experience in the digital media/VOD/content distribution industry desirable

  • Experience with video, and streaming technologies including Dash, HLS, Smooth Streaming

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Self-starter who is driven to strong results and growth

  • Capable of developing scripts to automate monitoring, alerting, notifications

  • Experience with video streaming DRM

  • Experience with networking basics and capture tools (Wireshark, Charles Proxy)

  • A good eye and ear for video & audio
