This Sr Technical Engineer, Windows Operations will support the Windows environment in the NJ and CA datacenter, across all supported business units.
Support the Windows, VMware, SCCM environment including activities such as provisioning, maintenance & troubleshooting
Maintain the highest level of expertise in designated products and components of the Windows Operating System, associated hardware and VMware
Provide troubleshooting support and advanced analysis of requests within the Windows Environment
Building new VMs on our multiple VMware farms across our data centers based on a documented process and checklist
Owning, Tracking and Resolving Wintel 2003 - 2012 (physical and virtual servers) trouble tickets, related incidents and requests.
Develop and maintain server inventory and configuration documentation
Participate in on-call rotation; will require after-hours and occasional weekend work to implement patches and/or perform system maintenance
Prepare and maintains documentation of IT Infrastructure
Maintain infrastructure equipment inventory and manage hardware life-cycle
Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience in related field.
Graduate degree in Computer Science, highly desired.
5-7 years’ experience as Windows Server Administrator
Strong knowledge of SCCM 2012 architecture and experience with SCCM Administration
Installation, evaluation, implementation, automation, integration, analysis, maintenance, and problem resolution of SCCM clients and release management deployments to 1200 servers.
Ability to create Deployments/Collections/Packages within an SCCM 2012 environment
SCCM 2012 deployment and infrastructure knowledge including troubleshooting, design, and implementation experience
Strong knowledge of other configuration management tool, including but not limited to, BigFix, Chef, Puppet.
Experience in VMware ESXi 5.x which includes the following: vMotion, DRS, Virtual Center, SRM
Experience in networking technologies which include virtual NICs and switches such as the Cisco Nexus 1000v and VMware vDS, heartbeat configurations, physical and virtual LAN topologies
Installations for security patches, functional patches and version upgrades
Ability to quickly obtain new knowledge of specific applications within the environment
Strong attention to details with the ability to troubleshoot issues and provide resolution
Demonstrates constant consideration of risks and impacts especially with regards to changes such as security patching (i.e., change management.)
Scripting ability (PowerShell, VBScript plus WMI extensions)
Familiarity with standard IT audit processes such as SOX, PCI, or HIPPA.
