CBS Interactive’s Media Group is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join the site engineering team responsible for handling the code and core components of and This team supports the web stack for both sites - from the PHP frameworks to the proxy configurations.

Responsibilities for this position include designing/building both new applications and additional features for existing applications, active involvement in improving’s site infrastructure, and working with the team to ensure quality of code.


Solid understanding and experience with PHP or Java

Solid understanding and application of JavaScript and its basic frameworks

Working knowledge of web server technologies and caching fundamentals

Solid understanding of core Object Oriented Programming principles

Comfortable working with Linux/Unix systems

Experience with consuming RESTful services

Experience with or understanding of agile development

Experience being part of a development team, including working with version control systems like Git or SVN

Familiarity with software development methodology and release processes

Willingness to work closely with Product and Quality Assurance teams

BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering

Must successfully pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of PHP Symfony

Experience with AWS Services or other Cloud Platform Technologies
