Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing seeks a creative and motivated Associate Publicist/Publicist to work in its active publicity department. This role is responsible for executing successful publicity campaigns for books from newborns through young adult by maximizing media coverage, organizing national and local author tours and events, and building relationships with a broad range of children's authors and illustrators. The position will collaborate with the Senior Director of Publicity and work closely with marketing, sales and editorial departments.
*Write press materials, including compelling press releases and creative, effective pitch letters.
*Arrange and coordinate multi-city book tours and author appearances.
*Pitch and schedule interviews with broadcast, print, and online media.
*Arrange blog tours and coordinate blogger coverage.
*Develop and update media lists and create targeted mailings.
*Book author travel and attend events.
*A strong emphasis on author care, and maintaining and strengthening author relationships.
Previous experience in book publishing strongly preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Fluency with current media trends.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, collaborative environment.
Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented nature.
*Ability to work well both independently and in a collaborative environment.
*Familiarity with Cision and Net Galley preferred
