The Director, Metadata Management works collaboratively to lead efforts to develop Showtime’s metadata policies and maintain metadata integrity, working with a wide range of internal stakeholders and external partners. The person in this role will develop and implement metadata standards to ensure accuracy and completeness of daily published metadata, with the goal of enhancing marketing effectiveness and brand consistency for Showtime programs and services across platforms. This role is also responsible for documentation, analysis and ongoing metadata quality assurance activities.
This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, and a passion for the subject. In addition to diving deep into the details, the person in this role will also be an advocate for best practices in metadata creation, management and distribution across all departments in the company which play a role in the metadata supply chain.
Develop and implement metadata standards, and monitor Showtime metadata in electronic program guides, apps, websites and other consumer points of discovery for completeness, accuracy, and brand consistency.
Document and monitor internal metadata points of creation, processes, and systems as well as external metadata distribution. Consult with key stakeholders from Showtime Operations, Programming, PR, Digital Media, IT, Creative Services and Product Management/Development groups and establish recommendations to streamline approach and implement best practices.
Manage ongoing relationships with metadata providers, industry trade associations and third-party vendors.
Oversee Showtime Marketing Feed partner integration, approvals, and evolution of schema, webpage and process.
Manage the registration, ingest and distribution of unique ID’s (e.g. -internal, EIDR, TMS)
Degree in Information Science, Library Science, or equivalent experience is preferred. 7+ years of experience in metadata and digital asset management, media asset management, and master data management in the media and entertainment industry.
Understanding of media landscape and related technologies, programming logic and database architectures, SEO, as well as metadata management technologies (inclusive of structural, technical, descriptive, administrative and rights metadata).
Strong knowledge of media and entertainment metadata, protocols, standards, file-based workflows, supply-chain automation, data attribution, validation, new products.
An understanding of information taxonomy and metadata schemas, as well as knowledge of the digital media landscape, including internet, asset management and metadata technologies.
Attention to detail, critical thinking skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently with an entrepreneurial spirit and collaborate cross-functionally with many departments within an organization.
Experience working on business requirements for search and discovery across linear and on-demand platforms.
Ability translate complex technical concepts into meaningful business communication.
Familiarity with Java, XML, JSON.
