Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing is looking for an energetic, creative candidate to fill the role of Director of Marketing for the Simon Pulse, Aladdin, Little Simon and Simon Spotlight imprints. The position creates and executes the marketing campaigns for books and brands from newborns through the YA. These imprints publish across genres and formats, including commercial Teen fiction (When Dimple Met Rishi, Love & Gelato), Middle Grade fiction (Dork Diaries &Fablehaven), licensed brands (PJ Masks & Daniel Tiger) and publishing programs (Ready-to-Read). An ideal candidate can manage and prioritize work flow and represent marketing strategies at both in-house and out-of-house meetings including presenting to authors, agents and licensors. The Director reports directly to the VP, Marketing & Publicity, and has three direct reports.
Specific duties include:
Develop and execute strategic, integrated marketing plans for approx. 75 focus titles per year
Supervise creative for ads and other promotional items
Manage annual marketing budget
Prepare marketing proposals for potential acquisitions
Manage established and new brand relationships and partnerships
Prepare selling materials to present at seasonal sales meetings
Work directly with authors on online outreach and additional marketing opportunities
Explore cross-partnership opportunities for licensed properties
Present title plans at weekly and seasonal sales meeting
Collaborate with key in-house departments including: Marketing, School and Library Marketing, Digital/Social Media Marketing, Sales, and Editorial
Manage three direct reports
Previous experience in book publishing strongly preferred.
