As the Director, Yield, Pricing & Planning, you will play a vital role at CBS Local Digital Media. Specifically, you will be the business liaison between sales and every other business group and you will manage the pricing and yield group for online ad inventory across a portfolio of digital sites reaching 60MM+ unique visitors on a monthly basis. You will directly impact accelerated revenue growth and play a central role in the future success of CBS Local’s online advertising business.

You will solve complex business issues through rigorous analysis. In addition, you will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders, including the digital sales, account management, integrated marketing, ad operations, finance & research teams. Patient, adaptable and dedicated, you also possess great time-management skills and the ability to multitask.

You will proactively identify opportunities to increase the value of online ad inventory, and will assist in the design and execution of systems and process changes required to take advantage of these opportunities. Your analytical and problem-solving abilities will help unlock revenue opportunities, drive operational efficiencies and supply critical information to business partners.


  • Be main business contact to maximize operation efficiency between sales and all other internal groups

  • Analyze sales deals to ensure target ROI for CBS Local Digital Media

  • Develop and maintain display and video inventory models. Models should include seasonality, macroeconomic trends, and property changes.

  • Build planning strategy for CBS Local, with overall responsibility for developing and implementing specific sales channel, pricing, ad product and inventory management recommendations and processes

  • Understand ad functionality, including knowledge of all ad products across the CBS Local portfolio (ad availability/supply, demand, pricing, delivery and performance of each unit)

  • Understand product and inventory trends and pricing to help lift yield and maximize overall revenue streams, including the identification and communication of potential short term inventory opportunities

  • Set rate card and floor pricing across all digital products and sales channels

  • Implement pricing controls and business rules, with other departments

  • Develop and maintain interdepartmental processes for sales processes and approvals

  • Develop and maintain reporting on the topics of volume, pricing, yield, ad product composition and sell-through for business partners such as digital sales, account management, integrated Marketing, finance, ad operations and research.

  • Develop custom quantitative analyses, models and ad-hoc reports to support decision making.



  • At least 5 years minimum of online advertising experience, at a large online publisher or network with multiple sites and sales channels

  • 3-4 years of dedicated pricing, yield management and inventory management experience required

  • Ideal candidate is someone who possesses the ability to take initiative and drive projects with minimal supervision

  • Ability to deal with competing priorities effectively, and work efficiently in a high-paced environment

  • Proven quantitative ability and Excel spreadsheet modeling skills

  • Excellent organizational, time, and interpersonal management skills

  • Excellent written and communication skills; the ability to present results of complex analyses clearly and to interface with cross-functional teams at all levels of seniority

  • Proven diplomatic and political savvy with excellent communication skills and ability to adjust approach according to audience

  • Experience with behavioral/demographic targeting and viewability measures

  • Strong understanding of ad-serving technologies; Triton and DoubleClick/DART for Publishers (DFP)
