Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and lest known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed "The Colbert Report," which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move.


As a Field Producer you will work with fellow Segment Producers to generate and pitch segments, story lines and features, research selected topics and collaborate with Producers and crew members to set up the segment by coordinating, engineering, and executing it for success. Must be able to work under tight deadlines, and gather all the right elements for each segment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for pitching, executing and delivering complete comedy segments both in studio and in the field

  • Oversee all aspects of a shoot including stage direction and script execution from inception to air

  • Direct edit of all pieces with Avid editor

  • Manage AP and PA, as well as others, assigned to shoots

  • Work with Rights and Clearances, legal department, and S&P for clearance of elements


  • 4 year college degree

  • 5+ years television field producing experience

  • Broad understanding of and interest in current events, politics and comedy

  • Detail oriented, able to communicate well with all production departments

  • Prior experience on a comedy show a plus
