We're looking for a content producer to lead the editorial charge at Chowhound. This individual should excel in a fast-paced environment, have a broad knowledge of cooking, the national dining scene, food media, and familiarity with video production.

Additionally, he/she should be able to write quickly, accurately, and in a confident voice. This full-time content producer position will report to the Executive Editor, and will be responsible for creating editorial content (articles, galleries, how-to guides, video scripts etc.).

Work very closely with Executive Editor and Senior Video Producer to concept, create, and produce written and video content that supports Editorial Mission and hits key KPIs.

Help concept and pitch up to 20 digitally-driven stories per week around themes, trends, holidays for the editorial calendar, in addition to actively pitching ideas for video shoots, galleries, and articles.

Write 15-20 pieces of content/week and publish directly in Chowhound’s CMS tools.

Fact-check and copy edit content.

Write SEO-driven titles.

Promote content via social channels, a daily newsletter, and other partnerships.

Stay abreast of current cooking and video trends, competitive food magazines and sites, as well as cookbooks.

Consult at video shoots to ensure that the story is being packaged cohesively as intended.

Collaborate with the Executive Editor and video producer to create supporting creative and copy assets by writing video scripts for video series.

Write copy for sales pitches and branded content series.

Responsible for establishing and reaching traffic goals by monitoring traffic, driving growth, and growing content in both social and search (SEO) spaces.

Site scheduling: Homepage, Recipe Hub, holiday promotions, Sales Deal scheduling as needed

Publishing edited videos in CMS


Experience writing and editing food content (minimum of 4+ years experience in digital media or publishing - focus on food and/or beverages is a plus)

Video producing/writing experience.

Familiarity and strong social media presence and willingness to experiment in all social media platforms.

Experience with and a willingness to appear in videos.

Excellent organizational skills, focus, and the ability to work independently.

A critical, seasoned editorial eye for storytelling in any medium (particularly digital and video).

Impeccable grammar and attention to detail with an eye toward clean copy, while maintaining an engaging, entertaining, yet informational voice.

Ability to calmly balance multiple priorities, and adjust strategy and execution in the face of new information.

Creative, strategic, hardworking, driven, deadline-oriented individual.

Skilled in concepting, acquiring, and packaging content on both short-lead and long-lead timeframes.

Experience in editing stories for accuracy, service, and voice.

Social media prowess

A passion for and knowledge of cooking and the national food scene

A working knowledge of photo editing, photography, and familiarity with content management systems.

Facility with online publishing systems and the ability to learn and use new technologies.

Must successfully pass a background check


Experience in web analytics: Google Analytics and Omniture

SEO optimization techniques

Culinary degree or extensive professional cooking experience.
