Smithsonian Channel, a joint venture between Showtime Networks and the Smithsonian Institution, is looking for a Marketing Supervisor to join its Consumer Marketing team. This position supports the day-to-day functions of the consumer marketing department, including development of advertising campaigns, on-air promos, branding, asset management, marketing presentations and other tasks as assigned.


  • Work on all marketing and branding initiatives, including creative development of print, broadcast and digital tactics, from writing creative briefs to flawless execution of campaigns.

  • Help develop show positioning, target audience profiles, competitive analysis and marketing recaps.

  • Track delivery and clearances of promotional materials.

  • Distribute marketing assets to internal and external groups.

  • Create, distribute and maintain timelines for promotable titles to internal groups.

  • Route and communicate feedback on print, broadcast and digital tactics.

  • Work closely with business and legal affairs for clearances on print and broadcast tactics.

  • Coordinate with Smithsonian Institution on marketing initiatives that increase awareness of brand.

  • Support day-to-day marketing needs for ancillary businesses, such as International and DVD.

  • Create decks to showcase all marketing efforts surrounding individual premieres and programming stunts, often to be included in Marketing Plans and Board Meeting decks.

  • Provide administrative support including: scheduling meetings, photocopying, printing, and preparing expenses.


  • Minimum 2-3 years marketing experience, preferably in Media/Advertising industries

  • Experience working with creative and legal departments.

  • Must have great organizational and project management skills, along with strong writing and proofreading abilities.

  • Needs attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple projects.

  • Should have a great creative sensibility, be media savvy, passionate about marketing and TV, enthusiastic, resourceful and eager to learn.

  • Standard computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Powerpoint; Keynote is a plus) as well as ability to learn new programs.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to follow up.

  • Ability to thrive in a team environment and work independently.
