Among its stations are WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV (New York), KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV (Los Angeles), WBBM-TV (Chicago), KYW-TV and WPSG-TV (Philadelphia), KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV (Dallas-Ft. Are you ready to help build exceptional newscasts in one of the nation’s most dynamic markets?
KPIX 5 is looking for a writer/producer who will innovate and create compelling newscasts tailored for a sophisticated audience.
Writer/producer will write and edit stories, pitch story ideas, produce segments, write teases, booth segments and serve as the main fill-in producer as needed.
Assist line producers with the production of newscasts.
Responsible for producing news stories and segments with a sense of urgency, energy and pacing.
Respond aggressively to breaking news.
Make editorial and content decisions in accordance with department guidelines and standards.
Write news stories and teases in a straightforward, active voice, conversational style, with proper grammar and spelling.
Effectively coordinate with field crews and editors.
Create news graphics.
Edit video to station standards making proper use of shot sequences.
Monitor news wires, social media, and feed sources for updated information.
Create and publish posts to station’s social media accounts in accordance with station priorities and standards.
Exercise sound news judgment.
Produce news updates.
Clearly communicate both in newsroom and production control room.
At least 3 years line producing with a proven track record.
The personal and professional maturity to direct and manage a staff of experienced reporters, writers and editors.
Must possess excellent writing and production skills.
Adept at responding to breaking news.
Eagerness to incorporate new media strategies and technologies.
Desire and ability to innovate.
Desktop editing required.
Related College degree and/or equivalent preferred.
Must be able to sit at desk for long periods of time and operate keyboard.
