DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Accountant is an entry-level management position with supervisory responsibilities

over General Accounting staff and is charged with directing day-to-day operations of the General

Accounting Department in addition to performing hands-on accounting tasks.

Supervisory duties include, but are not limited to:

-Responsibility for data input into the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets,

Inventory, and Purchasing modules of the accounting system

-Daily bank reporting

-Cashier and other cash-related tasks

  • Repairs & Maintenance Jobs and CapEx reporting

  • Mentor and train direct reports, as needed

  • Perform back-up duties of direct reports during absences and high-volume work periods

  • Organize workload, delegate and/or reassign tasks, as needed

  • Improve and/or enhance procedures

  • Maintain effective working relationships

  • Contribute to annual performance evaluations of direct reports

Accounting duties include, but are not limited to:

-Apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to daily tasks

  • Maintain accounting records and ensure security of all confidential information

  • Journalize month-end accruals; review and post interfaces from BASS to Dynamics GP

  • Schedule and facilitate monthly close processes

  • Create monthly financial reporting package and quarterly reports

  • Generate general ledger account reconciliations and bank reconciliations

  • Adhere to published policies and procedures

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to existing internal controls

  • Research issues of an accounting nature

  • Create desktop procedures or update existing documents for all areas of responsibility

  • Fully cross train with Accounting Department Manager

  • Perform back-up duties of Accounting Department Manager during absences

  • Review contracts and update records accordingly

  • Special projects assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree, Accounting major

Minimum of three to five years of related experience including two in a supervisory capacity

CPA is preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

-Working knowledge and strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

(GAAP)

-Proficiency in Excel and Word

-Experience with a major accounting system, Dynamics GP is a plus

-Strong analytical skills

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-Excellent interpersonal skills

-10-key by touch
