DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will be a strategic individual with 7-10 years of experience managing an accounting department in the entertainment industry

Responsibilities

Direct all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to syndication and program cost for the Entertainment Division including receivables, payables and financial reporting.

Analyze the division’s financial results with respect to trends, costs and performance versus budgets.

Develop relationships with the Business Affairs and Programming Departments within the Division and accounting and business departments in other CBS Divisions such as CBS Television Distribution and CBS Television Studios.

Direct the preparation of the Ultimate models used for the amortization of programs produced by the Division, including coordination with the Distribution, Participations and Residuals departments.

Monitor license agreements with outside studios to ensure compliance with financial terms.

Develop, prepare and review the amortization rates used for all programs in all day-parts for the Entertainment Division.

Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.

Assist the Financial Planning Department in developing cash budgets and forecasts.

Forecast, monitor and manage cash disbursements and receipts in accordance with corporate goals.

Ensure compliance of all financial transactions and records with corporate policies and procedures, GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley standards.

Work with outside auditors on the annual audits in directing the preparation of requested documentation, schedules and analysis and in answering questions and participating in process walkthroughs.

Assist senior management in financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.

Other finance and administrative duties as required.

Serving as "head of staff" to the department executive in carrying out the day-to-day aspects of managing staff in the division, including but not limited to managing performance, workplace rules and behaviors, attendance; working closely with the HR department to manage routine HR matters including attracting, retaining and developing talent within the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

7-10 plus years of accounting and financial management experience in the entertainment division.

7-10 plus years of supervisory experience.

Experience working with a diverse professional staff.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. MBA and CPA preferred but not required.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Experience in the Entertainment industry with Ultimate based accounting.

Familiarity with Residuals and Participations.

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time.
