Key to CBS’s success, the CBS Tech team is on a mission to consolidate, transform and modernize its existing infrastructure and application portfolio and is looking for a new Infrastructure Operations leader to step into a role made vacant due to a promotion.

The Lead Engineer, Technology Infrastructure, Database Operations will provide leadership and direction for the Database Operations team in the support of CBS Corporation and business units. This person will be responsible for maintaining and supporting a wide variety of database architectures which may include advanced features such as HA and Encryption. They will develop and revise processes and procedures to optimize database infrastructure at CBS including, but not limited to: database management (monitoring/ alerting/ logging), service management (incident management, configuration management, change management, and team leadership (offshore DBA staff interface). They will operate with a high degree of autonomy and will ensure stability of database platforms. This resource will also assist with Cloud migrations to IaaS and PaaS. This resource will play a key role on the AIOps (Artificial Intelligence in Operations) initiative focusing on data security and analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in defining and maintaining database environments.

  • Support of AIOps initiative with focus on database infrastructure and data security policies, data management, governance, analytics and data lakes.

  • Assist on the design and implementation of redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.

  • Development and design of database strategies, system monitoring, high performance solutions and capacity planning for future expansion requirements. Will also plan, co-ordinate and implement security measures to safeguard the databases (encryption at rest or in transit).

  • Lead the creation and maintenance of processes/best practices and related documentation for all databases.

  • Assist the team in providing second level of support for production and non-production systems.

  • Partnership with IT Compliance team on the execution and implementation of all SOX controls and processes.

  • Coordination of production releases and changes for database systems including appropriate review of architecture, standards, etc.

  • Evaluates and implements new technologies, products and tools used in the relational database environments including traditional commercial environments like SQL Server & Oracle, but with a long term vision of transitioning to open source platforms like MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL.

  • Support the deployment of application projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • 5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience

  • Experience in RDBMS platforms such as Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL a plus along with experience with Big Data / ML technologies and NoSQL

  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices

  • Proficient SQL Server engine and query tuning skills

  • Cloud certification and experience (AWS, Azure and/or GCP) preferred

  • Knowledge of ITIL framework and project management methodologies preferred

  • Familiarity with SOX controls, segregation of duties principles, least privileged access principles preferred

  • Data analytics skills a plus (machine learning algorithm applied to data)

  • Expert performance troubleshooting and remediation skills

  • Experience with internal and external backup and restore methodologies

  • Working familiarity with APIs and related application technologies (CD, Micro services and containers)

  • Proficient in data security strategies (data at rest and in transit)

  • Excellent Oral and written skills.

  • Focus on quality of work and customer service

  • Demonstrates excellent communication, organizational and follow up skills.

  • Ability to follow through on support related issues with customers, vendors and IT staff

  • Undergraduate degree in a computer science related field or equivalent work experience.
