CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. Among its stations are WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV (New York), KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV (Los Angeles), WBBM-TV (Chicago), KYW-TV and WPSG-TV (Philadelphia), KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV (Dallas-Ft. Worth), KPIX-TV and KBCW-TV (San Francisco), WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV (Boston), WUPA-TV (Atlanta), WWJ-TV and WKBD-TV (Detroit), KSTW-TV (Seattle), WTOG-TV (Tampa-St. Petersburg), WCCO-TV (Minneapolis), KCNC-TV (Denver), WFOR-TV and WBFS-TV (Miami), KOVR-TV and KMAX-TV (Sacramento), KDKA-TV and WPCW-TV (Pittsburgh), WJZ-TV (Baltimore), as well as WCCO-TV’s satellite stations KCCO-TV (Alexandria, Minn.) and KCCW-TV (Walker, Minn.).
Looking for a pro-active leader who can juggle the day to day while planning major coverage and identifying strategic initiatives which make the news operation run more smoothly and efficiently. Extensive experience in:
Scheduling and coordinating large personnel groups based on daily news needs and contracts.
Providing technical support to newsroom operations and remote productions.
Facilitating sight surveys
Increasing productivity of linear and non-linear workflows
Navigating NRCS system and providing simple instructions to personnel based off daily, weekly and monthly planners.
Ensure proper scheduling of photographers, editor, TD's and prompter operators. Work closely with news Assignment Desk daily to discuss current and future staffing needs and provide guidance for best case deployment of assets and personnel. May also assist on Assignment Desk during breaking news. Must be able to assist with cutting video and sound bites using Anvato and Grass Valley Stratus. Critique Photographers and Editors on a daily/weekly basis. Understand field workflow. Must be able to troubleshoot satellite uplinks, video feeds over SDI and Fiber and manage audio issues. Ability to logistically coordinate SAT uplinks and MW shots. Help News gathering workflow by sending footage to the filed over FTP and other non-linear methods. Willing to be on-call 24/7- including weekends and holidays.
College Degree Preferred or at least 8 years in the Broadcast Industry.
5 to 8 years with a major TV station; 3 to 5 of those years in a Management or Supervisory position.
Excellent organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with NRCS systems like iNews. NLE systems (Grass Valley Status) and Automation expereince (Ross OverDrive) is a plus. Candidate must be self-driven, approachable, communicative and Available to field phone calls 24/7. Candidate must be able to manage multiple short-term and long-term projects and provide oversight to union members.
