Division Overview: provides premium online and mobile content to the connected sports fan, including live and on-demand video, in-depth analysis, breaking news, and scores and statistics across high school, college, and pro sports. is part of CBS Interactive's portfolio of multi-platform brands, which includes premier Fantasy offerings, high school sports leader MaxPreps, 247Sports, Scout and CBS Interactive Advanced Media producing more than 130 official collegiate athletic sites.Role Details:

You will be part of a team responsible for deployment strategy, testing, and monitoring of all of our systems. You will work with other teams to create and maintain best practices. Help engineering area owners develop and set up new systems within AWS as well as migrate existing systems. You will work with those teams to create and maintain best practices.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Support our portfolio of high traffic websites

  • Design and configure continuous integration systems through collaboration with engineering teams

  • Build out test and production environments via infrastructure as code automation

  • Create and enhance application and infrastructure monitoring

  • Design and implement common service solutions with and for engineering stakeholders

  • Develop cost optimization strategies

  • Prepare for and support tentpole sporting events

Key Projects:

  • Infrastructure As Code - develop new and migrate existing infrastructure to Terraform using best practices

  • Monitoring / Logging - Support and help implement core monitoring of Key Performance Metrics as well as application-level logging of all applications

  • Continuous Integration and Delivery - assist in setting up and managing a CI pipeline to facilitate an automated workflow that incorporates testing, and an end to end deployment strategy

  • Containerize - work on developing a strategy to migrate to a containerized environment


What you bring to the team:

You have-

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present and convey technical ideas to a varied technical audience

  • Expertise with AWS, Terraform, Docker, Python, Shell scripting

  • Expertise with managing one or more container orchestration platforms

  • Expertise in cloud governance and related tooling (Config, Cloud Custodian, etc)

  • An understanding of Azure and GCP and their product offerings

  • Advanced Linux system administration experience (RHEL or Ubuntu)

  • Comprehensive knowledge of RDBMS, DBMS (MySQL, Mongo)

  • Mastery of one, but familiar with all the following programming languages: PHP, Python, Java, C, C#, Perl

  • Robust experience with caching technologies and how they apply to high-capacity web sites (Varnish, NGINX, Redis, and Memcached)

  • Ability to assist with debugging, analysis, and optimization of high-traffic web sites

  • Experience with modern monitoring, alerting and logging technologies (Prometheus, ELK, Grafana, Splunk, pagerduty, cloudwatch etc).

  • Expertise with CI/CD processes and tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, etc).

  • A full understanding of CDNs and their role in website delivery as well as media streaming (live and on demand)

  • Experience mentoring and growing technical individuals

  • Experience handling compliance and information security remediations

  • Experience with automation/configuration management (Chef/Puppet/Salt/Ansible)

  • Experience with version control systems (GIT, SVN, TFS...etc)

  • Experience with large scale migrations to the public cloud

  • Experience with the agile process flow

You might also have-

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in software engineering or system administration

  • Multiple AWS certifications and are pursuing professional level certification path

  • Experience with VMWare administration

  • Experience with enterprise NAS and SAN solutions
