This is a core Mobile software engineering position for a new 24/7 streaming channel for CBS Interactive. This contributor will be expected to lead engineering efforts around streaming content applications for our Android and FireTV platforms, as well as contribute to the design and implementation of APIs and library components for our video products.
Main contributor to Android and Fire TV applications and services.
Work with product management, UX, and platform engineering groups to create and deliver best in market streaming experiences for mobile customers.
Anticipate technical risks and design/implement error handling and other mitigation techniques to ensure system stability and security.
Analyze and resolve performance issues and other content delivery limitations
Work with broadcast video team to ensure robust and redundant content transfer pipelines from studio sources to end user playback
Research, suggest, and implement third party tools, libraries and software in the product backlog when appropriate.
Deliver applications that meet performance and scalability goals of the project.
Coordinate with Product, QA, and Network Operations groups and act as 2nd-level support for production issues.
Android and Fire TV streaming apps for Entertainment Tonight and beyond.
DRM and content playback APIs
You have -
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field, or 4 years equivalent experience.
2+ Years experience as a lead or core contributor to one or more android-based applications in an agile environment.
Thorough knowledge of the Android platform and deep familiarity with Android Material Design guidelines.
Experience with Android media player, streaming, and DRM technologies.
Experience developing User Interface and User Experience (UI, UX) presentation layers for reactive web and mobile applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills to facilitate teamwork
You might also have -
Continuous Build Test Automation experience,
Demonstrated ability to build intuitive user interfaces for mobile applications.
Roku and/or iOS development experience a big plus.
PHP and Symphony framework experience
