DESCRIPTION:

Data plays a central role at CBS Interactive, and as part of the Data & Insights Group (DIG), our Business Intelligence team is a crucial part of our success. It drives business, product, and operational decisions by providing rich data, strategic insights and analytical products. We are looking for an exceptional Sr. Director Business Intelligence who is passionate about data and entertainment and who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The position is anchored around CBS.com and our growing SVOD service CBS All Access, including its increasing Originals’ slate with shows, such as Star Trek: Discovery, The Good Fight and Strange Angel to name a few.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop a strategic vision for their Business Intelligence needs

  • Manage execution of a wide variety of BI/analytics activities across product, editorial, marketing and finance

  • Help drive user enablement and adoption of the core BI/analytic tools, and solutions for all stakeholders

  • Day-to-day leadership of a team of analysts by providing clear priorities and goals along with career development and coaching

  • Build strong relationships with Data, Measurement Operations, Product Research and other key functions to ensure successful project delivery

  • Provide thought-leadership to help drive best practices and best-in class capabilities

  • Lead the design, implementations, operation, scalability and quality of the entertainment BI infrastructure, reporting framework and insights deliverables

  • Prioritize work of the team based on business goals and initiatives

  • Support the development of measurement strategies, learning agendas and roadmaps with input form senior team members and internal stakeholders

The Senior Director Business Intelligence manages a team of BI professionals and partners with executives, product and editorial management, as well as peers across our fast-growing entertainment group. The ideal candidate will combine BI and analytics thought-leadership with the ability to guide the execution of solutions that provide stakeholders with actionable insights that drive business decisions.

This leadership position is focused on creating meaningful insights, actionable recommendations to all entertainment stakeholders and to leverage deep data for business optimization and product development. The Senior Director should be able to move effortlessly between a strategic discussion on data insights with executives, to partnering with data and measurement operations on efficiency and quality initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent quantitative field

  • 7+ years of relevant working experience in a similar role, preferably for an online video distributor, entertainment media property or e-commerce platform

  • 4+ years of people management experiences in the BI/Analytics space

  • Extensive experience in advanced SQL and data mining in a Big Data environment (from BigQuery, Impala/Hadoop, Teradata or similar environments) and analytical tools (Tableau, R, Python)

  • Expert knowledge with web analytics (Adobe, Google Analytics)

  • Broad expertise in technical data tools and methods, including data engineering, descriptive and predictive statistics, experimentation and data visualization

  • Organized, self-driven and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment across multiple stakeholders

  • Strong detail-orientation with a penchant for data accuracy

  • Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Points:

  • Domain expertise in subscriptions, including 2+ years working on a subscriptions product
