Entertainment Tonight is launching an interactive streaming news network delivering celebrity, pop culture and lifestyle content and premium video. It will be available live and on-demand 24/7 via our app, OTT, desktop, mobile and across social platforms. We strive to have our original reporting and exclusive access drive the conversation.
We’re looking for a resourceful and organized Technical Director to coordinate and switch all elements for live programming. In addition to directing a technical staff, the role requires close cooperation with our producers, transmission and distribution teams. The right candidate needs to embrace new technologies and reach beyond the control room to help us develop the systems, structures and workflows that combine to create a truly innovative operation.
Maximize the flexibility of control room devices and automation (Ross Overdrive) to coordinate scripted and spontaneous live programming, including juggling multiple guests and remotes
Use iNews to create, edit and code the rundown; live switch show
Coordinate with producers on content, communicate all technical requirements to the production team, and synch with transmission/distribution
Provide creative input in the look/style of streaming network
Maintain set, including virtual/green screen elements, and adjust as needed
Troubleshoot on-air operations including robotic cameras
Optimize connections between Control Room and Edit, Graphics and Master Control
Create, build and modify effects and custom controls as needed.
What you bring to the team
3 years+ experience directing or switching live broadcast
Expertise with Ross Overdrive automation
Deep understanding of broadcast and digital video standards
Proficiency with iNews or other central rundown system
Knowledge of audio and graphic systems and robotic camera operations
Capacity to give direct, constructive feedback to help develop a technical staff
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed, including event coverage
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
You might also have -
Experience with video playout systems like Crispin, Grass Valley K2, Harris or similar
Video-editing proficiency, preferably on Avid platform; working knowledge of media management systems including Avid Interplay
History of digital production, including producing content in different ways for different platforms
