CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. CBS in Dallas/Fort Worth is seeking a full-time Digital News Video Anchor.
The Digital News Video Anchor will be part of a cutting edge team - based in DFW - that will quickly create custom video news packages for use on all CBS O&O market television web sites.
The ideal candidate is a creative multi-platform thinker with a solution- oriented approach who can successfully navigate challenges in an ever-changing landscape.
CBS is looking for a strong anchor with a passion for story-telling. Candidate duties include:
Produce news packages, write teases and create graphics for use in building online video segments.
Contribute story ideas and actively participate in coverage decisions.
Shoot and edit video.
Work with Producer, Editor, Digital Director and other Market Leads to develop and deliver original ideas for stories that can lead to successful video packages across all CBS O&O web sites.
Ensure an accurate and ethical presentation of the news.
Perform live shots as assigned.
Regularly contribute to social media; may manage social media presence for specific feeds and suggest content for various markets around the country.
Make timely and effective decisions to meet all news production deadlines.
Attend and contribute to digital editorial meetings and conference calls.
Candidate should be familiar with different writing techniques for both the spoken and written word and have the ability to quickly construct a cogent story from CBS and wire reports as well as tweets and releases from verified news sources like CBS Newspath and the Associated Press. Candidate should have a strong social media background.
The Digital News Video Anchor should also be able to perform well under deadline pressures. Candidate should possess the ability to respond quickly, calmly and professionally to changing circumstances and breaking news; must be able to quickly prioritize and make decisions requiring independent judgment.
The Digital News Video Anchor position requires a clear understanding of journalism process and ethics. Candidate must possess excellent writing and proofing skills and is expected to create content for both web and social media platforms that is creative, concise, of excellent quality and free of typographical errors.
The Digital News Video Anchor should be familiar with non-linear editing basics. Candidate should be able to generate quality written and video news, sports, and entertainment content and be able to create basic Photoshop graphic content.
Candidate should possess strong digital media acumen; knowledge of online trends and social media platforms.
Software Experience Preferred:
Adobe Suite of Products with focus on Adobe Premiere
Microsoft Office Suite
Social Media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat
Bachelor’s or technical degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or allied field preferred; Excellent organizational and communication skills required; Must be results-oriented, innovative, and demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills.
HOURS: This is a full-time position. Candidate will be expected to be available as the schedule demands.
