CBS Sports Digital, a division of CBS Interactive, provides premium online and mobile content to the connected sports fan, including live and on-demand video, in-depth analysis, breaking news, and scores and statistics across major pro and college sports through CBSSports.com and the CBS Sports app on iOS, Android, and key connected TV platforms.

Role Details:

CBS Sports is looking for a talented Product Designer to lead the design across our iOS and Android apps. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the largest US sports media properties (#2 in the overall comScore sports category rankings in 2017) at a formative period of innovation within the company. We are looking for someone who wants to help innovate our products and shape design for millions of sports fans who use the CBS Sports mobile app every month. As a Product Designer, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from high-level product strategy to tweaking pixels right before launch.

It’s an exciting moment in the business having just launched our first 24/7 live streaming service CBS Sports HQ. You will play a key role in driving distribution / consumption of video, while also developing retention through exciting and innovative data experiences. Sports fans are passionate people. The choices you make will have a tangible impact on enriching their lives.

You will report to the Senior Manager of Design with your team being distributed across Kansas City, Florida and New York. You must be a self-motivator, full of enthusiasm and have a fine eye for detail.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Collaborate and iterate with product and engineering to find elegant but practical solutions to design challenges and user needs

  • Rapidly produce multiple solutions, from sketches, wireframes, and user flows to high-fidelity mockups and prototypes, depending on the level of detail needed to present and communicate proposed solutions and interaction flows that will resonate with our target audience.

  • Conduct user tests, research, and experiments to capture and understand real users’ motivations, goals, and pain points.

  • Dig into analytics data to monitor current product usage patterns and identify future areas of enhancement

  • Present your work to various stakeholders, explaining your creative process and how your final design aligns with the product goals.

  • Provide specs, Zeplin assets, interactive prototypes and design requirements to developers.

  • Keep up with the latest Android and iOS releases, design trends and mobile innovations to design beautiful user experiences.

  • QA development builds from a design perspective and relay update requests.

Key Projects:

  • Own product design and user experience for the CBS Sports mobile apps

  • Improve of data and live scoring experience built around core sports fan personas to increase user retention

  • Drive design opportunities around key editorial storytelling experiences and tentpole events

  • Enhance the video viewing experience and integration throughout the app

  • Maintain and develop our visual language / design system across the app.

QUALIFICATIONS:

You have -

  • 5+ years of mobile Product Design experience at a consumer-focused tech organization

  • Strong experience designing for iOS and Android apps

  • Strong visual design sense, clean command over interaction design, typography and usability.

  • Proficiency in wireframing and prototyping (Principle and InVision are our tools of choice)

  • Extensive experience conducting user testing and research

  • Passion for sports

  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly and effectively across all functions and levels of the org

  • Intellectual curiosity with a constant thirst to learn

  • Desire or experience collaborating, iterating, and testing with Product and Engineering to discover the solutions that exceed user expectations

  • Experience working in an Lean/Agile environment

  • Experience leading or managing designers

  • Experience with data visualization

  • BA in design from a leading institution

  • Experience designing interfaces presenting large amounts of data
