We’re looking for a Senior Commissioning Editor to develop and manage picture books, some novelties and brand extensions and select illustrator-led non-fiction. This is a hugely exciting time to be joining S&S and a terrific opportunity to work on, and help to shape a dynamic list that’s packed with popular, acclaimed and stand-out books for children.
Reporting to the Editorial Director, this role will be responsible for commissioning picture books and occasional illustrated non-fiction, developing ideas and concepts in-house and working on our series, novelty and bespoke projects.
We are looking to recruit a passionate and talented editor to continue to strategically build our strong commercial brands, as well as to find and nurture exciting new voices and to grow our market share.
You will love children’s books and be excited about helping to make books that children will ask for on repeat. You will be a committed, creative individual with excellent editorial skills and a terrific eye for detail. You will have in-depth market awareness across the UK and internationally, with a track record of commercially successful acquisitions. Author and illustrator care will be a top priority for you, and you will have good industry connections.
We are a small team, so you will be happy to pitch in and you will have strong communication, project, contractual, financial and time management skills.
