The primary responsibility of the EyeLink Technician is providing technical support to the various creative and production groups associated with or part of the CBS Marketing group. Additional core responsibilities include developing and implementing workflows by identifying needs and active engagement with developing and supporting the department’s move into a hybrid/cloud production environment.
Collaborate with senior management, EyeLink supervisors and vendors to identify and implement efficiencies in hybrid cloud/on-premise workflows and automation.
Leverage various technologies to create customized and/or adaptive workflows to accommodate the technical needs that arise from increasing production throughput requirements, and special creative projects.
Actively participate in short and long-term projects defined by project management (e.g. captioning workflows, API driven automation, and Proof of Concept projects, etc.).
Support users with the daily processing of digital assets (e.g. ingest, transcoding, data transport, etc.), and troubleshoot issues related to the editorial process.
Monitor and troubleshoot hybrid asset workflows (e.g. job status, transcode, data flow, etc.).
At the discretion of your supervisors, duties and responsibilities are subject to change as required.
Minimum of five years' experience providing technical support in a post-production environment (e.g., Avid Media Composer, network infrastructure, hardware, transcode and render, file-based ingest and delivery)
Certification or two years’ experience in use and support of cloud-based architectures (e.g. object-based storage, compute, database,serverless functions, and cloud infrastructure, etc.).
Experience using digital assets within a professional NLE (Avid Media Composer, Autodesk Smoke, Adobe Premiere, etc.) using various media codecs (e.g., Avid DNxHD, Apple ProRes, etc.), television broadcast standards, video conversion (transcoding), and current post-production workflows and technology.
Must have a demonstrated knowledge of API principles and practices (e.g. how to initiate an RPC, various flavors of API, differences in RPC commands, etc.)
Demonstrated knowledge in media (e.g. detailed understanding of frame rates, aspect ratio, color space and depth, cadence, drop frame, and transcoding to and from any of these to meet house edit specifications, and basic broadcast media specifications).
System Administrative skills in event-driven scripting (e.g. BASH, Python, etc.) for both on-premise and cloud environments (e.g. scripting to pass functions and values, scripting to trigger secondary events, bridge the gap between dissimilar applications, scripting service monitoring tools, etc.).
Knowledge of cloud-based productivity apps (Jira, Google Apps, Slack, Asana, etc.).
