DESCRIPTION:

CBS Corporation Law Department is seeking an Administrator to

clear third party content (footage, photographs, art, music & memorabilia) for all CBS News programs and clears and licenses CBS News programming for sales and educational use.

Responsibilities include a

ssistance with rights licensing, sales, and clearance, including:

  • Rights File Maintenance: Maintaining paper and electronic files, including agreements, invoices, payments, and correspondence relating to all CBS News programming. Organizing, processing, and tracking invoices and payments to copyright holders. Following up on outstanding agreements and invoices by contacting show producers and rights holders. Maintaining rights library and e-library.

  • Rights Database: Overseeing the receipt and confirming the accuracy of footage & stills reports and music cue sheets from each CBS News program production team.

  • Research: Researching restrictions related to CBS News programming in an effort to assess a program or segment’s availability for rebroadcast, sale, and distribution. Assisting in copyright ownership research.

  • Rights Memorandum: Distributing CBS News program rights advisories to employees in divisions throughout the company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor degree required

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and organization skills

  • Able to meet tight deadlines and prioritize

  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel (basic formulas); knowledge of PowerPoint is helpful

  • Team player, who will work well with employees in the law department, News, and other parts of CBS, as well as people outside the company

Preferred:

Work experience with production, archival research, and/or rights & clearances
