Manage daily activity of broadcast electronics Maintenance Department that supports all video/audio and broadcast IT systems in the CBS-NY Broadcast Center. Supervise scheduling, payroll, personnel training, technical procedures, and replacement parts flow for about 50 IBEW Union technicians. In depth knowledge of TV broadcast and computer systems, and 5-10 years related experience required.

Responsible for managing day-to-day activity of the Technical Maintenance Department, which operates 24x7x365. This group services the electronics and broadcast IT maintenance needs of CBS Operations & Engineering, CBS News, CBS Sports and CBS Worldwide Distribution. Areas of responsibility include support of MDC-1 television network program origination and VOD, MDC-2 Transmission Center, Electronics Center, studios and communications systems, CWD and Pitch Blue program syndication - the entire video/audio system in the CBS Broadcast Center. Supervise scheduling, payroll and overall activity of about 50 IBEW Union technicians. Develop and implement procedures and schedules to meet preventative and emergency maintenance needs. Strive to ensure that all facilities supported by Technical Maintenance operate with the highest level of quality and performance. Analyze chronic equipment and software problems and recommend design improvements. Serve as technical advisor to Operations and Production personnel. Manage inventory of spare parts to ensure adequate supply. Coordinate with equipment vendors to guarantee technical support.



In depth knowledge of television broadcast and computer systems, minimum of 5 - 10 years of progressive experience, and BS degree Electrical Engineering or related field are required. Must maintain effective oral and written communication with Union subordinates and management, with other components of COE, and other divisions as necessary. Must be proficient in the use of MS Excel, MS Word and have experience with electronic purchasing systems.


Experience in the design and/or maintenance of Broadcast IT facilities preferred. Familiarity with computer networking, video servers, television broadcast automation systems and AutoCad helpful.
