CBS Corporation is seeking a Director, Employee Relations. In this role you will play a critical role within our HR and Compliance team. In this role you will lead investigations, collect and analyze facts from a variety of internal clients and work with stakeholders to determine and implement closing actions where appropriate. You will provide advice and support to HR, management, and executive leadership as it pertains to complaints and conflict resolution. You will interpret and apply policies and/or employment law, and will also serve as an employee advocate. Additionally, you will possess strong analytical and communication skills, sharp intuition and good judgment, and be comfortable navigating ambiguity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Respond to a high volume of inquires from employees, managers and HR business partners regarding matters involving employment practices, policies, employment laws and compliance guidelines.

  • Conduct effective and thorough investigations of employee complaints.

  • Ensure that any employee relations issues are dealt with the highest level of confidentiality, professionalism and sensitivity.

  • Champion and promote a positive employee relations climate, providing appropriate counsel and support to ensure that any ER processes are delivered to maximum the employee experience.

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations matters in a consistent, empathetic, and legally sound manner.

  • Where appropriate, engage with internal stakeholders to gain specified legal or best practice advice on specific cases, policy, and cross divisional issues to ensure best advice is provided.

  • Provide guidance on and interpret Company policies as well as State and Federal compliance rules, regulations and policies.

  • Ensure consistent and equitable application of Company policies and procedures.

  • Manage complex performance management, medical accommodation, and behavioral risk issues.

  • Identify efficiencies and effective employee relations through the providing training to employees and managers to ensure that issues are resolved and not repeated.



  • Bachelor's degree (preferably business, HR, or another related field); JD is a plus but not required.

  • A minimum of +5 years of Employee Relations experience.

  • Maturity, discretion, and good judgment in managing complex decisions and handling sensitive information.

  • Ability to interact and partner effectively with all levels of organization.

  • Proficiency in conducting investigations in order to collect and analyze facts.

  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.

  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and a track record of applying of pertinent labor/employment laws as well as human resource management principles, practices and procedures.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work within a dynamic, fluid environment.

  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, negation and problem solving skills.

  • Highly organized, and able to prioritize and plan time/resources accordingly, in a fast paced, high pressured environment.

  • Experience with case management systems.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
