Director Remote Operations will oversee strategic engineering and operational requirements for Special Events, including supervision of technical personnel, on-site management and budgeting.
Provides technical planning and support at national and international news events.
Supervises technical team members at remote special events.
Manages and negotiates with vendors and contracted services.
Plans and implements Technical Capital Budget as part of oversight group.
Responsible for on air remote coverage from its inception to completion.
Act as a liaison between production staff and technical staff for CBS News Special projects.
Ability to travel on short notice and for extended periods
Familiarity with bonded cellular technology
Understanding of all forms of transmission: jpeg, mpeg, HEVC, microwave, satellite, fiber, etc.
Knowledge of all forms of newsgathering equipment, cameras, audio equipment, drones, satellite trucks, etc.
Familiarity with computers, networking, firewalls, etc.
Strong leadership skills.
College degree preferred
