DESCRIPTION:

CBS is looking for a Director, Television Research who will leverage performance metrics to develop strategies for monetization of CBS Television across all dayparts—Sports, Primetime, Daytime, News and Late Night.

This person will report to the Vice President, Market Resources, collaborating with the entire CBS Market Resources Team to find key ratings and product usage stories for use in sales and marketing collateral.

Ideal applicants will be strategic thinkers and insight producers, possess substantial media research experience as well as people and project management experience and have an enthusiasm for media, entertainment, digital media and pop-culture in general.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Advise on key insights relevant to television to help advance CBS’s business goals by collecting, analyzing and interpreting audience measurement data

  • Manage a team of three, delivering top line & detailed reporting and analyses of television viewership with a keen eye for providing Account Executives and Upper Management with actionable insight.

  • Innovate and bring a fresh perspective to traditional performance metrics/reporting to keep pace with the rapidly changing television landscape

  • Educate management on VOD/SVOD trends and analyze the types of content viewers consume on key competitive platforms

  • Ability to serve as a people manger and promote a culture of collaboration, problem solving and teamwork

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in the entertainment industry; knowledge of TV, linear and cross-platform, preferred; 3+ years in a Supervisory role

  • Advanced knowledge of audience measurement systems (Nielsen, comScore, GfK-MRI) and the ability to teach newer data collection/reporting techniques to staff.

  • Cross-platform research experienced preferred

  • Superior Microsoft Office skills

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of the evolving entertainment landscape including linear, online, mobile, OTT, advanced advertising and other emerging viewing platforms/technologies

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, strong problem-solving skills and exceptional work ethic

  • Aptitude for storytelling that focuses on translating data and analytics into actionable and easy-to-understand insights for partners across the organization

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with presentation experience to all levels

  • Demonstrated organization savvy and track record for building collaborative relationships across the business

  • Curious, out-of-the-box thinker that approaches business questions in unique ways utilizing all of his/her tools
