Smithsonian Channel seeks an innovative front-end developer with a strong emphasis on programming both client and server-side JavaScript - the glue that connects our back-end infrastructure with our user-facing products.   • 3-5+ years of experience with front-end development

  • In-depth knowledge of JavaScript fundamentals

  • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and CSS preprocessors (we use SASS), and responsive web design principles

  • Experience with cross browser and device compatibility and solutions

  • Used version control software (we use Git)

  • The ability to problem solve independently and in a team environment

  • Burning passion for crafting awesome software

  • The motivation to adapt to and learn emerging technologies

  • No fear of hard (yet rewarding) work

  • Precise attention to detail

  • The ability to play nicely with other humans (i.e. people skills)

  • Self-starter mode

You might also have:

  • Experience with Node.JS

  • Knowledge of React and React Native

  • Mobile experience

  • Previous work experience in digital media, preferably at a media company (television, publishing, etc.)
