The Manager, Business Development will be involved in the development of Smithsonian Networks’ international and ancillary businesses and industry and strategic analysis presentations for senior management.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Create financial models and conduct market and industry analysis to support evaluation of new business ventures.

  • Partner with international representatives to identify, evaluate, and manage operational execution of international channel launches.

  • Prepare business update and strategy decks for senior management

  • Work with ancillary businesses business partners to grow revenue in international licensing, clip licensing, home video, airline/cruise line distribution and retransmission royalties.

  • Work with legal department to document business contracts.


  • 3-5 years of relevant television industry experience

  • Extensive knowledge of the television industry landscape

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills are critical as the position interacts regularly with channel management and multiple internal departments and external partners.

  • Strong organization skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Self-motivated team player
