TV Guide is a multi-platform digital media brand that helps you decide what to watch - at any time and on any platform: streaming, broadcast or cable. Our bicoastal team of entertainment experts create, features and reviews that excite, inform and complement every viewing experience. TV Guide is part of CBS Interactive’s Media group, which also includes Chowhound, Download.com, Last.fm, Metacritic, Metrolyrics and TV.com.
The Managing Editor is an ambitious, organized and encouraging leader who oversees the day-to-day operations and content priorities of the editorial team at TV Guide. Reporting directly into the Editor-in-Chief, this manager will navigate the complexities of the TV ecosystem to lead a team of editors to cover shows and fandom in a saturated entertainment market.
Manage and mentor a bicoastal team of editors and writers
Help departmental editors follow best practices to further the group's business goals, including but not limited to market differentiation, traffic growth, increased engagement through social media and content development for target segments
Help conceptualize and organize the site’s 360 coverage (editorial, social and video) of tentpole events, including big premieres
Oversee promotion of all TV Guide content on-site and throughout our distribution network, including optimization of display copy and images to create the most enticing user experiences
Manage the editorial team’s annual budget, including travel and freelance expenses
Participate in on-camera promotional opportunities for the brand as needed
We’re creating the next-generation TV Guide for the ever-expanding world of streaming. It’s more than just Netflix and Hulu these days, and it’s our job to make it simpler for every viewer on every platform.
Our voice, tone and visual identity will be reinvigorated. This role will be central to rolling our those new directives
A bachelor's degree
8 to 10 years of experience working on a multi-platform digital entertainment lifestyle brand
Proven experience leading and motivating a team of highly functioning writers and editors
Strong journalistic fundamentals, including excellent writing and editing skills, astute legal and ethical judgment skills and the ability to work under tight deadline pressure
Familiarity with Internet culture, particularly what's trending and how a story goes viral
Facility with content management systems
Knowledge of SEO best practices
Experience managing content teams and editorial operations

Experience in entertainment journalism
Command of social media best practices, including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube - and ideas of how best to leverage them
