DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Develop media plans that drive customer acquisition and retention for Showtime add-on services and traditional distribution platforms.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Media Planning & Activation for OTT partners (75%)

Work with Senior Manager of Media on day-to-day operations pertaining to media for the OTT streaming services (Amazon, Hulu, for example).

  • Work closely with Showtime Key Account Marketing and Sales teams to achieve subscriber and revenue goals through highly targeted and cost-efficient media campaigns. Counsel them to maximize value in the management of digital and offline media opportunities.

  • Serve as a regular point-of-contact for external teams constructing media plans, providing guidance on targeting, plan development, and optimizations.

o Ensure plans are consistent with media strategy, in line with budget, flighted properly, reaching intended targets and are executable based on production schedules.

o Attend and be an active participant in all regularly scheduled status meetings with the client partners, sales groups, and various internal marketing/sales teams.

o Communicate premiere dates, product updates, and other pertinent information when applicable.

o Connect with other internal media groups in order to ensure all plans are best complementing each other.

§ Optimize search campaigns based on various internal and partner activity (Amazon, Apple, Hulu, etc.)

  • Identify opportunities within programming and distributor-specific windows in order to effectively plan quarters at a time well in advance.

o In addition to planning media, this position will need to negotiate acceptable rates, set up internal billing and tracking, monitor pacing and delivery, and obtain and evaluate performance.

  • Consult and assist in plan activation details with the creative members of the Key Account team.

  • Collaborate with Promotions team on planning and activating co-marketing "events" (presence at film festival, SXSW, etc.)

  • Author presentations to be shared with distributor contacts about media plans and how they support the mutual marketing goals. Opportunity for a presenting role internally and to external clients.

  • Summarize complex media campaigns and performance for broader Showtime Marketing groups and management.

  • Regularly represent the Media team alongside peers in cross-functional status meetings.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial tracking documents

  • Manage operational responsibilities to steward campaigns forward:

o Issue new plans and updates to Management.

o Process and track all media authorizations.

o Assist in organizing and setting up for relevant rep meetings

Media Planning & Activation for Traditional Accounts (25%)

  • Work closely with Showtime Key Account Marketing and Sales teams to achieve subscriber and revenue goals through highly targeted and cost-efficient media campaigns. Counsel them to maximize value in the management of offline media opportunities.

  • Ensure plans are consistent with media strategy, in line with budget, flighted properly, reaching intended targets and are executable based on production schedules.

  • Recommend network and daypart mix and flighting for traditional distributor co-marketing TV campaigns based on the available featured spots.

  • Identify opportunities within programming and distributor-specific windows in order to effectively plan quarters at a time well in advance.

o In addition to planning media, this position will need to consult on acceptable rates, monitor pacing and delivery, and obtain and evaluate performance.

  • Consult and assist in plan activation details with the creative members of the Key Account team.

  • Manage operational responsibilities to steward campaigns forward:

o Process and track all media authorizations.

o Assist in organizing and setting up for relevant rep meetings

DECISION MAKING/ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • On occasion when managers are unavailable, the Supervisor is empowered to provide instruction and recommendations to internal Key Account and Sales groups and external partners.

  • This department represents Showtime to the Media community on a daily basis, and therefore this Supervisor candidate needs professional discretion, poise, and industry smarts, as anything spoken is a reflection of the company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Foundational understanding of marketing, advertising and promotional principles

  • Exceptional communicator, including written, verbal, presentation and listening skills

  • Knowledge of streaming TV landscape

  • Great attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and comfort managing important financial documents

  • Passion for entertainment and Showtime programming

  • Comfort analyzing data and using it to illustrate a marketing story

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, marketing, advertising or communications preferred

o Minimum 2 years of experience in marketing, advertising and media planning preferred.
