CBS is seeking a high-impact executive to drive strategic direction and transform CBS’s Operations & Engineering Network Distribution & Technology to a next generation center of excellence.
This role is responsible for general management, operation and technical oversight of the video transmission business for the CBS and CW Program Networks. The department is responsible for the satellite delivery of the CBS/CW Program Networks to the 200/100 Affiliates across the U.S. and for the planning, design and execution of all the video contribution and transport services for News, Sports and Entertainment Events.
The candidate should excel at both service delivery and technical expertise. They must be comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment, taking initiative, managing multiple projects, working to find creative solutions, fact-based analysis, with partners under tight time-frames.
This is a highly collaborative role, working across businesses, technology and vendor teams to align business and customer needs. The job entails Technology Planning and Implementation, Operations Management, Industry expertise and Vendor relationship management.
Manage satellite, fiber and teleport facilities, hardware platforms and software control systems required to control and distribute the CBS and CW Programming Networks.
International and domestic contribution and distribution transmission services provided to CBS News, Sports, Entertainment, and Syndication and VOD distributors.
Industry analysis and new technology planning.
Planning and implementation of new technology platforms and upgrades for satellite and terrestrial distribution and CBS and CW Affiliate reception systems.
Design and implement key software applications to run the operation, including facility scheduling, client billing, Network planning and configuration, and Affiliate schedule control.
Manage and negotiate contracts for transmission equipment, facilities and services.
P&L review and Capital budgeting.
Participate in Industry Conferences and track relevant FCC proceedings.
Day-to-day operations and management of Union and Non-Union 24x7 operating departments.
BA or BS college degree a minimum, advanced degrees in business management or technical studies associated around media are a plus.
5-10 years’ experience working in a leadership position at a broadcast, cable, or emerging streaming program origination and distribution company
Experience in media operations and workflow automation; driving cost savings
Understanding of Broadcast, TV, Affiliate relationships, Cable MVPDs and Virtual MVPDs
Quick learner with a professional demeanor, capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines with urgency and professionalism
Proficient communication in oral and written forms, presenting information for executives and the company-at-large, and in motivating and clearly directing teams across the organization
Smart, entrepreneurial profile with strategic vision, strong bias to execute, cost management
Track record of technology, innovation and implementation success
Demonstrated expertise in consultative, solution selling and business development skills
