Responsibilities Video Operator for CBS News broadcasts and Special Reports. Position has technical responsibility for ensuring that all broadcast video meets technical specifications and visual requirements, including camera images, live and pre-recorded video as well as graphics. Optimize appearance of images on control room and studio monitors. Adjustment of video and still image attributes using color correctors for real-time performance enhancement.
Some familiarity with networking and computer applications are a plus. Work closely with Technical Director and Director to address video issues. Learn the technical systems and workflow for the control rooms and studios and ensure that systems work properly. Work with managers and engineering staff on capital project installations, checking proof of performance of new equipment and systems operationally. Works with Maintenance to troubleshoot and test equipment and systems. This position is in the NY Broadcast Center and is covered by the IBEW Local 1212 union.
Education: College graduate with a BA or BS degree or degree in Television production.
Experience: At least 5-10 years of experience as a Video Operator preferred. Live and taped broadcast experience, knowledge of digital camera and device operation and theory. Understanding of digital video signal flow. Knowledge of color correction in post is a plus.
