We are seeking a dynamic leader to establish a vision, strategy, and voice for editorial and to build a strong market leadership presence for the brand through cultivating strong relationships with the mobile apps, games and software developer and publisher community.
The ideal candidate has deep editorial expertise, knowledge and market leadership and direct editorial and content experience with mobile apps, games and/or software.
The Executive Editor will develop and implement a content and editorial strategy that establishes and grows Download.com’s reputation as the leader in mobile apps, games and software reviews. Focus on building strong capability producing relevant & interesting app reviews, app guides and curated lists of apps, software and games in both articles and video formats.
The Executive Editor will lead a team of in-house editors and content creators and will ensure the organization can scale to deliver great editorial content for a growing global audience.
Manage in-house and contractor editorial teams across the globe to develop content on a day-to-day basis.
Establish, publish and evangelize editorial strategy and publishing calendar. Establish content types & standards and determine right opportunities for video production.
Build strong relationships with mobile apps, games and software developers while maintaining independence, authority and credibility for the brand and organization.
Identify content opportunities by managing and coordinating with Download.com teams inclusive of product, design, integrated marketing, SEO, social, business intelligence, and research support groups.
Establish and implement brand and voice guidelines. Ensure all content is authoritative, on-brand, and consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice.
Develop and maintain a functional content calendar covering strategic topics, verticals and themes, as well as defining the owners for each area.
Take ownership of results of editorial strategy and lead content promotion efforts through search, social, PR and other promotion and distribution channels.
Evangelize editorial opportunities to Integrated Marketing and Sales teams.
Define and implement measurement systems that actively measure, manage, optimize and communicate the performance of the content put out by the business against the business’s operational objectives and strategies.
Participate in developing strategy and methodology that will help Download target new verticals and market opportunities.
Partner with other editorial leaders at CNET and across CBSi to create collaborative cross brand editorial opportunities.
What you bring to the team:
Bachelor’s degree, minimum - English, Literature, or Communications degree preferred.
8+ years of experience as a respected editorial leader with proven editorial and managerial skills.
Tech savvy with direct experience in editorial for mobile apps, games and/or software.
Outstanding leadership, communication, written, and presentation skills.
Strong knowledge of search and social content optimization practices.
You might also have:
Experience leading a reviews organization
Experience leading video content production.
Digital video on camera experience
Audience development and content marketing experience beyond SEO and social (eq. Google AMP, Apple News and other distribution opportunities)
