CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. Among its stations are WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV (New York), KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV (Los Angeles), WBBM-TV (Chicago), KYW-TV and WPSG-TV (Philadelphia), KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV (Dallas-Ft. DESCRIPTION:

KPIX5 and KBCW, the CBS owned-and-operated duopoly in the San Francisco Bay Area, is looking for a news operations manager. We seek a proven leader with strong personnel skills and in-depth technical knowledge.

This person will be in charge of all technical operations for the news department. He or she will supervise our diverse group of photographers, editors and technical operations personnel, and will be responsible for managing the department’s scheduling and budget. He or she will also be responsible for interacting smoothly with other departments in the station.

The news operations manager at our station oversees newsgathering operations by ENG, satellite and mobile broadband, as well as our helicopter operations and contract. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of these and other emerging technologies in the news organization.

The news operations manager reports to the news director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ experience in electronic newsgathering, excellent technical skills, prior management experience, strong people skills and a college degree or equivalent. The successful candidate will set and reinforce quality standards for our work in this area.

Preferred:

Broad knowledge of Digital Systems

Experience with Grass Valley Group Servers, including Stratus and Edius editing and storage systems

Experience with Avid I-News

Understands Mobile connectivity, such as Dejero and Live U.

Working knowledge of microwave receive and transmission sites.

Good knowledge of IP, including IP camera

All aspects of videography, audio and lighting
