Division Overview:

CBS Interactive has an exciting opportunity for a hands-on accounting Revenue Manager in San Francisco. This role will work strategically and collaboratively across all business functions to streamline and establish scalable processes that ensure all revenue/billing are accurately recorded in accordance with revenue accounting standards. We are looking for an accounting professional, who is a critical thinker, takes initiative, thrives in a high-tech friendly environment and who is enthusiastic, thoughtful, collaborative and proactive in their approach.

Role Details:

This position will report into the VP of Revenue accounting and will be responsible for providing support across CBS Interactive business units and revenue teams on the accounting of revenue recognition, contract review, and order processing functions. The Revenue Manager is a key member of the Accounting team; he/she will lead the monthly close process and ensure that invoicing and all revenue related accounts are reconciled and reported timely, while continuously improving process flows. The Revenue Manager must be a tech savvy, strategic thinker, self-motivated analytical leader that enjoys working in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Ensure revenue recognition is booked accurately, on time, and in compliance with SOX controls and GAAP standards

  • Lead and manage month-end close activities for revenue and billing; including but not limited to journal entries, unbilled and deferred revenue reconciliations, BESP analysis, and flux analysis.

  • Coach, train, and directly mentor 7-8 team members by creating a positive working environment, being available for ad-hoc questions and supporting their overall performance.

  • Subject matter expert with data flow and system integrations between the order management systems and ERP.

  • Provide ongoing guidance to the team and business on revenue recognition issues, such as identifying and addressing the cause of any adverse revenue recognition impacts.

  • Liaison with external auditors and assist with quarterly SOX audits and internal audits requests.

  • Participate in ad-hoc revenue analysis and accounting projects as needed

Key Projects:

  • Drive business process improvements and initiatives; bring best practice to online revenue accounting and order processing workflows

  • Collaborate with Sales Operations, Data Engineers, Oracle developers, and FP&A to continuously improve efficiency and streamline the order-to-cash process

  • Develop strategies to support a sustainable order-to-invoice process and ensure revenue for all billings are accurately recorded in accordance with ASC 606.


What you bring to the team:

You have -

  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition guidelines

  • 7+ years revenue accounting experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Proven to have strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring and developing teams

  • Oracle R12 or major ERP experience

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vLookup, pivot tables, etc.)

  • Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment
