CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. Among its stations are WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV (New York), KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV (Los Angeles), WBBM-TV (Chicago), KYW-TV and WPSG-TV (Philadelphia), KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV (Dallas-Ft. Worth), KPIX-TV and KBCW-TV (San Francisco), WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV (Boston), WUPA-TV (Atlanta), WWJ-TV and WKBD-TV (Detroit), KSTW-TV (Seattle), WTOG-TV (Tampa-St. Petersburg), WCCO-TV (Minneapolis), KCNC-TV (Denver), WFOR-TV and WBFS-TV (Miami), KOVR-TV and KMAX-TV (Sacramento), KDKA-TV and WPCW-TV (Pittsburgh), WJZ-TV (Baltimore), as well as WCCO-TV’s satellite stations KCCO-TV (Alexandria, Minn.) and KCCW-TV (Walker, Minn.).



WWJ-TV CBS 62 / WKBD-TV CW50 Detroit has an immediate opening for a Controller who will oversee the financial operations, strategic business planning, and compliance for the duopoly television stations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partner with station management to ensure the stations’ financial resources are being used in the most effective and efficient manner.

  • Oversee all accounting processes, preparation & reporting of monthly financial statements, developing monthly forecasts and annual budgets, financial analysis and administering SOX compliance.

  • Maintain the stations’ general ledger, accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable functions.

  • Coordinate annual budget process and presentation including out-of-market meetings with division executives.

  • Monitor and oversee expense control of the stations and be proactive with cost reduction leadership.

  • Ensure the station is in compliance with GAAP accounting theory and have proper internal controls.

  • Work with Local/Corporate Human Resources on HR-related matters.

  • Work with various station vendors to develop pricing and negotiate contracts.



  • At least 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in roles of increasing responsibility in finance and accounting management.

  • Results-oriented, innovative and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work in team environment, multi-task and maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate leadership and manage daily team operations.

  • Previous television or industry experience required.

  • Oracle accounting system experience is preferred.

  • College degree required, with an Accounting or Finance major, CPA or MBA preferred.

  • Out-of-market and outside normal business hours availability required.
