DESCRIPTION:

Do you have a passion for Sports? Do you love to code? If you answered yes, then CBS Sports may be looking for you! CBSSports.com is looking for a Software Engineer intern for our CBSSports.com engineering team. To be successful at this job, you need to bring a winning attitude and mad coding skills.

Your-Day-to-Day:

  • Collaborate with team members to build pixel perfect interactive features

  • Develop web applications integrated with Restful APIs to meet project requirements

  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies

Key Projects:

  • Migrate legacy front end code to a ReactJS framework in an AWS environment

  • Implement new features for the 2020 fantasy baseball season

  • Contribute to unit tests for the new ReactJS platform

Logistics:

  • Time commitment: part-time, 20 hours per week during our regular office hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm) but times may vary per team

  • This is a paid internship and can also be for university credit if it meets your university's guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS:

What you bring to the team:

  • College student on a Computer Science or equivalent degree major with a GPA of 3.0 or above

  • You’re a problem solver; you embrace getting your hands dirty with unfamiliar technologies

  • Strong initiative and the ability for creative thinking for product development with the ability to work in a collaborative, innovative, agile and team-oriented environment

  • Basic understanding of JavaScript, its quirks, and workarounds

  • Have worked with a newer Javascript framework, preferably ReactJS but VueJS, AngularJS or BackboneJS are also acceptable

  • An understanding of Object Oriented Programming and Design

  • Proficiency with HTML(5) and CSS(3)

  • Experience integrating data from various back-end services and databases

What you may bring to the team:

  • You love sports, fantasy sports and/or sports gaming

  • You know CSS preprocessors or frameworks (Less, SASS, Bootstrap, etc).

  • Experience writing unit tests for Javascript

  • Basic understanding of JavaScript, its quirks, and workarounds

  • Have worked with a newer Javascript framework, preferably ReactJS but VueJS, AngularJS or BackboneJS are also acceptable

Additional Requirements:

  • Intern must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

  • Must be at least 18 years old
