Support the SVP of Corporate Communications, facilitating the proper administrative flow of the office. This role also contributes to the success of the publicity strategies developed to brand Showtime and position it as an industry leader by supporting the PR campaigns, daily press stories, among other responsibilities.

Specific responsibilities will include:

Administrative Support:

The assistant will be the first point of entry for a very high-volume desk where calls and requests will come in from upper management, our parent company, reporters, agents and managers on deadline for stories among many others. Administrative support includes answering phones, keeping calendars up to date, prioritizing tasks, booking travel, filing expense reports, helping highlight trade and consumer articles of interest that are disseminated to upper management, paying invoices, maintaining internal and external press distribution lists, connecting to the appropriate department and executives as calls arrive, and troubleshooting departmental challenges as they arise.

The Assistant will also work closely with the corporate communications team across corporate PR initiatives. The position will also serve as a back-up to the East Coast Coordinator covering department phones when necessary, compiling the daily clip packet distributed company-wide (this is handled in two phases, morning clips distributed as overnight and breaking news stories arise and a second wave sent company-wide to be shared with the West Coast assistants) among other tasks. The ability to react quickly and appropriately in any situation is key.

External Contact:

External contact with national press is a daily occurrence in this position. Examples of requests are being the first point of entry for national media as they call the SVP’s office, assisting reporters with photo and DVD requests, maintaining successful relationships with key vendors including car, travel, among others. Maintaining the proper rapport with the press and accessibility to our executives allows us to leverage press opportunities to our advantage.

Campaign Support:

Contributes to the effort by helping compile pull press clips for development, casting, digital, marketing , OTT, legal and CBS projects as they arise. Help maintain a comprehensive database of positive network and series quotes used by various areas of the company including marketing, promotions and affiliate sales groups for on-air and print promotional materials. Provide press clips and positive network materials to the CBS Corporation for use in presentations, earnings and corporation board meetings.

Special Events Support:

Works as needed at events such as NY premieres and screenings and other functions.


  • Strong internship experience

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • A self-starter with the ability to troubleshoot

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and follow through on all projects

  • Polite and professional manner, exercising patience and diplomacy

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Previous experience assisting executives a plus.

  • Previous experience in media not needed but preferred.
