Pop TV has an exciting and immediate opening for the Digitizer & On-Air Graphics Coordinator. This position is responsible for ingesting, prepping, processing, delivering and archiving incoming video, audio and graphic assets to make them easily available for all internal writers, producers and editors as well as creative graphic and promo teams. Additional responsibilities include building graphic templates, end credit graphics, static and dynamic tickers and count down clocks operating with a Vertigo playout system (Grass Valley On-Air Graphics Automation and MAM Software), along with archiving various forms of media, such as video, audio and graphics onto LTO tapes utilizing an IBM System Storage TS3584 Tape Library and Tier 2 storage for disaster recovery purposes, as well as maintain server storage and space.
Ingest, build, publish, and deliver graphics for air, including snipes, bugs, ECGs (electronic content guides) and squeeze back graphics using Vertigo. To maintain consistency and catch any potential errors, cross-reference the Graphics department’s work order priority list against the graphics that are scheduled to air. Work under tight deadlines, ensuring the Broadcast Center has all graphics needed for air, and manage any last-minute graphic changes. Collaborate with internal creative Graphics team, the Broadcast Center and the external graphic vendor to ensure all templates and systems are working cohesively. Build, publish and deliver all countdown clocks for premieres and finales to the Broadcast Center. (30%)
Point-person for downloading files coming from multiple locations that come through Tulsa’s Aspera Enterprise server to the Playa Vista point-to-point server for processing. Workflow also includes ingesting, transcoding and archive incoming video and audio assets to Apple ProRes 422 and .WAV, which is the required in-house format for edit. Attach CEA-608 and 708 closed captioning to segmented and master tape files, as well as perform audio conforms and matches using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder, then complete the work order by exporting the files to internal editors and producers. (30%)
Responsible for the completion of Media Cart’s Production Edit Requests, which are work orders produced and operated with internal software that allows writers, producers and promo teams to request past and newly produced media. To complete the work orders, the Coordinator pulls back digital assets utilizing MassTech (an archiving/metadata UI and data platform) and restores them from LTO tapes, then places them on a tier 1 and/or tier 2 server, then completes the edit request in Media Cart. (20%)
The Coordinator is an integral part of proactively ensuring that Post Production’s assets are archived correctly and efficiently, plus work with the Post Production team to ensure that all Pop TV’s procedures, protocols, and requirements are being met and adhered to for broadcast. This role supports the Supervisor and Director in maintaining broadcast delivery schedules, production schedules and deadlines. Continual coordination, updates and changes are constantly communicated with the Supervisor of Post QC and Delivery and the Director of Post Production to ensure media is available and on time for national broadcast. (10%)
Responsible for the daily archiving of media onto LTO media tapes, keeping server space free and organized for future content. This includes coordinating with internal producers, editors and the Promo departments to identify excess and duplicated media on servers that can be tagged for archive or deleted. Send video, audio and graphic assets to MassStore to be archived on to two LTO tapes, and ensuring proper media management, placement and data recovery. (5%)
When necessary, perform quality control for ads, originals, feature films, promos, and graphics for national broadcast. Ensure there are no audio hits, video hits, flash frames, black frames, profanity, nudity, etc. Flag and report any quality control fails through Media Cart for editors to fix, and producers to approve those fixes. (5%)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
This position requires knowledge of many video and audio formats such as ProRes 422, .MXF, MPEG, R3D Raw, and .WAV files among others. Must have extensive knowledge of Vertigo GFX software and have working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office, etc., and must be MAC and PC proficient. He/she must have the ability to work well within a team environment, be flexible, self-motivated, a quick and adaptable learner and be able to work on multiple projects at once.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: BA in Film/TV production, post production or similar degree preferred.
Work Experience: 2+ years of post-production experience required.
