The Product Marketing team leads sales related projects across departments and ensures proper implementation and execution. We work with all departments across CBSi including product, edit, growth and engagement, ad operations and sales. An important relationship is with sales where we collaborate to bring strategic ideas to clients and develop creative solutions to clients objectives.
The Senior Director, Product Marketing oversees packaging, development, implementation, and evaluation of revenue-generation programs for our Technology related websites: CNET, ZDNet, and TechRepublic. He/she turns customer needs into new features, new services, and new programs, balancing the needs of the business unit’s revenue goals with the need to maintain product integrity and user interests. In addition, the Senior Director, Product Marketing will be responsible for developing transformative marketing programs around key categories such as video, mobile, and social integration.
Lead the charge to market for our ad products through the entire lifecycle - from concept to end-of-life by working closely with sales, clients, product, and engineering.
Derive relevant insights by gathering market, product, and client feedback -- leveraging company and third-party resources as appropriate. Know what clients want. Know what works on our sites.
Develop and drive revenue strategy, identifying the highest value areas, developing strategies to deliver more revenue in those areas, and turning strategy into products.
Join senior staff meetings with the GMs, Product leads, and Editorial leads.
Balance needs of advertisers with needs of users to deliver programs that work for the business overall. This includes revenue strategy, inventory optimization, pricing, packaging and user experience.
Specify needs for product development, design, and functionality. Define technical requirements and write specifications for product marketing programs. Oversee the launch of new programs watching performance closely and updating programs as needed.
Evolve our product mix, with a particular focus on Branded Content, Mobile, Video, and Social.
Prepare our business for the ongoing change in digital content consumption (heavier use of mobile and video, viewability, ad-blocking, etc.).
Enable Sales to effectively tell the stories of our products.
Serve as a product expert to sales and clients; actively participating in the communication of product features and benefits to internal and external audiences.
Enable constant learning about what works through a partnership with Business Intelligence and Research departments.
Manage a team of 8 reports. Provide leadership and mentoring to employees in your reporting chain utilizing best practices as a people manager and organizational leader.
What you bring to the team:
You have -
8-10 years product marketing or media agency experience, with at least five of those in the Digital space.
Understanding of digital media buying and campaign execution process.
Strategic thinker with a POV on where the industry is going and where the most meaningful opportunities are.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to tell stories rather than just presenting information.
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to generate credibility, trust and respect throughout the company.
Ability to synthesize data into insight, and insight into strategy.
Demonstrated the ability to exercise broad judgment and flexibility in balancing project requirements, meeting milestones, and keeping people and projects moving on schedule.
Previous experience launching products and measuring/maintaining key metrics.
Proven leader who takes responsibility for the team’s growth and development.
