DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY

WWJ-TV/WKBD-TV, the CBS-owned duopoly in the Detroit Market, has an opening for a Weather Reporter. This is a part-time, as-needed position for our First Forecast Weather shows, with duties including, but not limited to, serving as Weather Reporter, Tape/Video Editor, and Program Announcer as well as making appearances as a representative of the stations at locations or events as assigned. This position will have no specific schedule and may be needed approximately ten (10) to twenty (20) times per year to cover afternoons and evenings during the week, weekends, and/or holidays on an as needed basis, and occasionally with little notice.

DESCRIPTION

The Weather Reporter will prepare and deliver weather reports and forecasts on-air and on digital platforms at regularly-scheduled times, either live or recorded, and additional times as needed during severe weather. The qualified candidate will possess very strong, clear and informative on-air presentation skills and must have severe weather and forecasting experience. The Weather Reporter will also analyze weather data and synthesize the information into clear, easy-to-understand graphics and must have the ability to present weathercasts from the studio or on-location if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of three years of television broadcast experience with solid operating knowledge of weather forecasting and presentation software is required. A degree in Meteorology or related science is preferred. Candidates designated as Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society will get top consideration.
